Clinical Laboratory Scientist / Medical Technologist (NGS)

As our Clinical Laboratory Scientist, your role in setting up and being part of our laboratory operations would allow more people in the United States to access our advanced liquid biopsy technology.

With offices in Singapore, Hong Kong and Suzhou, joining Lucence means you will be part of an international and dynamic team striving towards our vision of a world without avoidable cancer deaths. It is important to us that every team member is aligned with the progress and goals of the company regardless of one’s physical location – this would require you to be comfortable accommodating international time zones for online company-wide events, cross-team discussions and remote training, when necessary.

Key responsibilities:

  • Performing high complexity testing according to established SOPs for molecular diagnostic techniques, including nucleic acid extraction, PCR, genotyping, and next generation sequencing.
  • Correctly receiving, requisitioning, processing, and ensuring proper identification of specimens and chain of custody
  • Evaluating sample integrity and adhering to relevant procedures in cases of unacceptable specimens.
  • Setting up new laboratory equipment and performing equipment maintenance checks on a regular basis or as needed.
  • Managing laboratory supplies and inventory.
  • Participating in reagent and assay quality control and validations as needed.
  • Participating in internal and external quality assurance programs.
  • Troubleshooting assays and instruments as needed.
  • Maintaining strict quality standards according to the laboratory’s accreditation standards, e.g. CAP, CLIA, ISO.
  • Documenting all corrective actions taken should test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications.
  • Preparing for internal/external audits as needed.

To be a good fit for this role, you would have:

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Life Sciences or a relevant field.
  • An active California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license in good standing.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in an accredited (e.g. CAP) clinical laboratory.
  • Familiarity with molecular diagnostic techniques, especially next generation sequencing. Experience in liquid biopsy is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with laboratory information management systems.
  • Prior experience setting up a clinical molecular diagnostics laboratory would be highly advantageous.

Key responsibilities:

  • Establishing commercial success in the United States by building commercial relationships with physicians (particularly for ordering of our tests), payers (particularly for reimbursement), and pharmaceutical companies (particularly for development of companion diagnostics).
  • Identifying and cultivating commercial opportunities with payoffs in the short-, medium- and long-term.

Laboratory Assistant / Executive

Key responsibilities:

  • Being the key personnel managing specimen receipt in our clinical laboratory. Day-to-day duties include data entry of specimen details when specimens are delivered to us, scanning and filing of specimen order forms, communicating with the Sales team when clarifications are needed and keeping track of follow-ups.
  • Assisting in ensuring smooth logistics and workflow of international deliveries of specimens to our laboratory. This would involve identifying packaging and delivery requirements for specimens from overseas markets (e.g. the US) and tracking of delivery status.

Specimens are received at our laboratory for cancer diagnostics and COVID-19 testing. Please note that you will not be coming into direct contact with any of the specimens, but you should be comfortable handling the kits, blood tubes etc. that contain such specimens.

This is a generalist role, in which you will need to be highly flexible and ready to support various people-related functions as company needs evolve. (Assistant) Corporate Counsel

Responsibilities

  • Support the General Counsel in the management of all legal matters including negotiation and drafting of contracts, and evaluation of Lucence’s business practices to identify key legal and compliance issues.
  • Manage the internal knowledge database and ensure it remains up-to-date with the latest legal developments in jurisdictions of commercial interest to Lucence, including but not limited to Singapore, USA, and China.
  • Assist in managing corporate compliance and privacy programmes including the implementation of compliance processes as well as performance of compliance investigations and training.

Requirements

  • Possess at least a degree in Law with a good background in intellectual property.
